Species text
The status of this rare flea beetle was revised by Hyman & Parsons (1992) from RDB 3 (Rare) in Shirt (1987). However it was then recently recorded from only four vice-counties and the map in Cox (2007) shows that it is now almost entirely confined to the Breckland in East Anglia. The beetle is phytophagous, associated predominantly with Cynoglossum officinale, but also recorded feeding on viper's bugloss Echium and common gromwell Lithospermum officinale. Threats include the loss of habitat through improvement and conversion to arable agriculture, development and natural succession. Disturbance, such as rotovation, may be needed to maintain open conditions. References
